We will find out how the body's organs work and learn about body systems like the digestive system and cardiovascular and nervous system. Caregivers can expect powerful academics and campers can expect ooey gooey science fun (we may or may not be dissecting a heart and touching a kidney)!
Student's will meet scientists from Sanford Research through the Sanford PROMISE program that sets to provide STEM education outreach in order to inspire the next generation of scientists, problem solvers, and thinkers.
Sanford's PROMISE Program has committed to a full day June 3rd during this camp week to "Blood- How does it move? What is it made of?"
Calling all explorers, Earth lovers, and nature enthusiasts!
This is a one week camp in which students will explore and develop a profound appreciation for nature. Campers will conduct a deep investigation into trees, their origin, and discover their vital importance to our ecosystem. Campers will also take a deep dive into global warming; what is it and what we can do to positively impact our Earth. Project based learning is sure to come to life as campers get hands deep into nature!
**Campers will visit the Outdoor Campus where they will discover the wonderful world of trees through observations, games, learning about the parts of a plant and taking a short hike to meet our famous silver maple tree. This class is Project Learning Tree and Project Wild in action!

Not many nations have a birthday, but America has TWO!
This week our students will investigate not only the original founding Independence Day on July 4th 1776 but the nations second Independence Day that ALL Americans were freed, including enslaved people. Black American’s commemorate this Independence Day during a holiday known as “Juneteenth.”
Project Based Learning will be in full effect as students research the History and significance of Juneteenth and the 4th of July in a creative and engaging unit that uses literacy, math and art standards.
Weekly Activities Include a BBQ in the Park. Can you celebrate American independence without a BBQ? We think not! Campers will enjoy traditional foods, water games and more with a special visit from a local fire station.
Is your student a gadgeteer, tinker or gamer?
This is one week camp from June 21st to June 25th is all about STEM.
Campers will be investigate the tech industry; how it works, what type of jobs are available and how tech has changed our lives.
We will also learn more about how to create and participate in safe content for online consumption and how to code.
Students will have week long access to a on-site tinker lab filled to the brim with high-quality, hands-on STEM activities.
Students will also participate in a Code Ninja field trip where campers love for technology will be transformed into an exciting learning adventure guided by a team of Code Senseis. Code Ninjas Camps empower kids to gain valuable tech skills and make new friends.
This week will be an unforgettably fun learning experience!
This camp session is for the water lovers!
A whole week devoted to one of the oceans most powerful animals, conservation efforts and correcting misconceptions about the SHARK. This week campers are taking a deep dive into our oceans and how vitally important water is. Campers can expect to get hands on with ocean based projects and outings.
Plus we are quintupling up on swimming! Thats right, swimming everyday! Plus a trip to the Sioux Falls Aquarium to touch the stingrays!

Lions, tigers and bears! Oh, my! This week of camp is wild.
Most everyone can name at least one animal they love and that’s why this week campers are learning more about animals and zoology.
Camp is sure to come alive with zoo animals brought right to us! Students will get hands on with a visit from the Zoo Mobile and participate in project based learning with focused topics and activities to enhance learning.
Plus this week comes equipped with a bonus *behind the scenes* zoo field trip!

At Achievement Academy we believe that planting that seed early is the key to growing a student who loves learning and will want to pursue higher education! This week we will talk about all things college and get active! We will play a variety of sports, learn about the opportunities sports can present and what it means to be a college student!
Students can expect a trip to a local university campus where they will get special VIP access to the sports team and locker room.

A mouthful for a seriously awesome week of camp! Student's can expect to be historians in a very hands-on way.
This week we are taking a look into the culture and heritage of our local Native American population. South Dakota is fortunate to be the home of many Native American Reservations and tribes and we will explore their rich history and contributions.
We are bringing in special guest presenters from Pipe Keepers located in Pipestone, MN that will showcase Native American art, music, and dance. Students can expect to learn about Native American story telling, drumming and dream catchers. Students will also have the opportunity to make their very own dream catcher.
Campers will also enjoy Native American Cuisine from Watecha Bowl and Visit Good Earth at Blood Run.
During this week its all about the money!
Let’s face it, we need money for just about everything! That is why it is important to teach student's of all ages about the importance of money, money management and businesses.
This week we will focus on what it means to be an entrepreneur and how to understand, create, and manage money.
Students will participate in a downtown business scavenger hunt and engage in daily financial fun provided by Junior Achievement.
Junior Achievements More than Money course introduces students to financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and to social studies learning objectives that include money-management skills, goods and services, and global markets. Through hands-on activities and a JA cast of characters serving as symbols for financial literacy and entrepreneurship concepts, students will learn a practical approach to starting a business and making smart decisions about managing money.
Following participation in the program, students will be able to:
-Identify the role of money in everyday life.
-Think like entrepreneurs and identify a small business they can start.
-Learn the basic steps of starting a business.
-Consider the advantages and disadvantages of borrowing money.
-Explore the opportunities of global markets.

What are SMART goals? That’s what we exploring alongside campers this week.
We are learning all about how to create specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time based goals. Most importantly, we are digging into the WHY and setting up our students to have the best school year yet!
Our students will also be learning more about teamwork, how to be leaders AND how to supportive team members!
Students can expect and expansion on our daily team building exercises including outdoor obstacles, cross-fit style team work AND inflatable fun!
This week we are moving our bodies, learning breathing regulation tricks and having fun!
Campers will spend the last week of camp dancing, learning new moves, and exploring different cultures and how dance and music is incorporated into their communities.
Students participate in mindfulness daily at Achievement Academy, but this week campers will take a deeper look inward to learn more about energy centers, emotions, and how to move through them with yoga and mindfulness practices.
Students can expect daily guest yoga Instructors with our final day spent doing yoga in the park. Students can also expect to attend a breath works workshop, dance Instruction from Dance Academy and a Storyland Children's Theatre field trip!
Morning mindfulness can gently release grogginess and help set the conditions for a more successful day. By incorporating morning mindfulness children can expect to start their day anchored and nourished in body, mind and soul.
Whole group meeting period in which community is fostered through a whole group activity before splitting into smaller groups.
A time designed to reward group cooperation with a focus on participants having fun with each other outside of their daily environment. Building strong working relationships, developing a sense of community and problem solving, are just some of the results our amazing team building programs.
A time for children to engage with their peer group in a supportive and interactive activity. Tae Kwon Do and its values are at the core of Achievement Academy and therefore is frequently taught in whole group wellness.
Brain Gain is a powerful time block designed to mitigate summer learning loss for youth participants. Each day youth will work in small groups to complete fun activities that are aligned with common core education standards. Learning blocks have an emphasis on math and literacy.
Achievement Academy has a deep appreciation for nature. Outdoor education and play support emotional, behavioral and intellectual development. Studies have shown that students who learn outdoors develop: a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, motor skills, self-discipline and initiative. That is why students at Achievement Academy regularly engage in nature based exercises and assignments.
Children participate in yoga and meditation practices daily in order to access and integrate all aspects of their true nature -- body, mind, and spirit -- in the pursuit of inner harmony. Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. Your student has the ability to participate in a PBL group in their interest area. We will release interest based group topics and students will choose which project they participate in.
